1.  IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRACTICE UPDATES

*August 23rd – No practice – all coaches will be at a training conference in Austin, TX

*Please note that practice times may vary slightly from those listed in the handbook. While we do our best to accurately project practice schedules when the handbook is created in April, adjustments are sometimes necessary to ensure all athletes receive high-quality coaching and have sufficient access to equipment. If there is any discrepancy between the times listed above and those in the handbook, please refer to the times listed above as the most current.

*August 29-September 1 – No practice – Happy Labor Day!

HOLIDAY PRACTICE SCHEDULES

These practice times are optional & encouraged for those who are in town, however we understand that families are likely to be traveling during these times! Please send in absence requests as normal if you will not be able to attend these practice times so we can plan ahead for coaches & equipment – however, absences on these dates will not go against gold star or allowed absences.

November 24 & 25 (Thanksgiving Break

December 22, 23, 27, 29, 30 (Christmas Break)

March 17-19 (Spring Break)

                Level 1, 2, 3, Bronze: 9:00-11:00

Level 4, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Optionals: 10:00-1:00

REWARD PROGRAMS STARTING!

*Oar: This season, instead of the torch, one athlete will take home an oar each week to reflect our “Row the Boat” theme. The oar is awarded to someone who stands out through effort, teamwork, work ethic, or growth. We pass the oar out each Saturday; at the end of the season, one athlete per level will be honored with the oar as our Athlete of the Year.

-If your athlete receives the oar, take it home, feel free to add something to it, and return it at the next practice so it can be passed on.

-We track recipients to keep things fair, though not everyone is guaranteed to receive it. If your child is curious about how to earn it, we’re happy to talk with them at practice.

*Gold Star: Gold stars are based on criteria like attendance, wearing the correct color for the day, punctuality, and attitude. Athletes can earn one per week, with totals counted at the end of the season. The top gold star winners on each team will receive an award at the banquet. We look for the natural break when deciding these awards, and you don’t need 100% to earn the award.

MUSIC AND CHOREOGRAPHY INFO – Gold, Platinum, Optionals ONLY

*MUSIC: It’s time to send in your top three music choices for the new year! Music is due on August 25th (Please send in the link for each piece). Coaches will listen to your choices and let athletes know at practice on August 28th which music they will use for the 2026 competitive season. Do not purchase music until you have been told by coaches which one to get.

-Use one of the following music generator websites to look through the options. Make sure all three choices you send are something that you would be happy with. You are welcome to put “first choice, second choice, third choice”, but it is not guaranteed that you will get your first choice of music.

-What are coaches looking for when choosing music? Floor music is best when there is a change of beat/tempo within the music. Sound effects are great too! Think about the style of movement that would match each piece of music and think about what you are comfortable trying. Faster music generally means faster movements—keep this in mind when sending in your options!

-Once you purchase your music, send it in to gymnastics@excitegym.com to give your choreographer time to listen to your music and start planning for your routine!

-CHOREOGRAPHY: On August 28th, we will post the sign-up genius on the hotline for you to set up a time to get your choreography done. Each coach will have a set number of spots and times to get everyone’s choreography done. Choreography time slots will be set up for three hours and cost $200 paid directly to your choreographer, the day that your choreography is done.
