Cheer Hotline 5.16.24-5.23.24

ANNOUNCEMENTS 5.16-5.23

ALL ATHLETES: TRYOUTS!

Team Placement Expectations and Notes:

-First and foremost, we want the absolute best for you child! We take our team placements very seriously. We discuss each athlete individually and have been meeting every day after clinics and have had several meetings before clinics. We want your child, the team and the program to have a successful season!

-Our goal is to have ALL teams be top contenders at competitions and to start our season where teams left off last season. We also want to build for our future. Keeping certain athletes and groups together while having veterans on a team (repeating a level and/or division) greatly contributes to a team’s success.

-Throwing a specific level tumbling skill does NOT equal the level you are on. While tumbling is important, it is only a portion of what we look at for building teams and placing athletes. Tumbling is only 20% of the score sheet. We must also evaluate jumps, dance, performance, confidence, ability to learn choreography, ability to know and understand counts, and stunting capabilities. If you athlete really really wants to perform their specific tumbling skill, ACRO is a great addition to cheer team! This sport allows more freedom in skills thrown and is a perfect complement to competitive cheer.

-We want your athlete to level up but only when they are fully ready. We prioritize your athlete feeling utilized on a team, confident in their skills, ability to perform their level tumbling skills to perfection (even when tired) and are comfortable enough to do so while teammates are 3 feet or less away from them. This is the standard for successful gyms around the country and globe.

-If you are not aging out of a division (tiny, mini, youth, junior, senior), don’t have the expectation to change. The level is the level, don’t get caught up and lost in the age group. You will have years of being the oldest on the team and years being the youngest; embrace where you are and know that we put you there for a reason.

-Take a deep breath! We love our kids and want them to succeed in cheer and in life. We know that you may not always agree, but we ask that you always trust. Our coaching staff is beyond excited for what we are seeing at tryouts and the potential for this season! We are ALL IN and ask that you are too!
